GWAVA is New Distributor of Popular GroupWise Anti-Spam Gateway
GWAVA, Novell’s largest technology partner for GroupWise, has announced an agreement with Vircom, a leader in email security solutions, to sell and support their modusGate product line. In the past modusGate has been sold and distributed in the GroupWise market by a company called Messaging Architects under its brand name GWGuardian.
The agreement, part of a recently announced business partnership, will allow Novell GroupWise customers that are currently using any Novell-specific branded version of Vircom's modusGate product to maintain their current systems beyond their current subscription periods.

This offer is also available to customers that once used a re-branded version of modusGate, but have since switched to another anti-spam product. GWAVA and Vircom have a program in place to help them switch back to modusGate while receiving a time credit for the balance of their existing anti-spam subscription. “For example, if a customer purchases a 12-month modusGate subscription from GWAVA, and if they still have 10 months left on the existing subscription of their current anti-spam product, GWAVA will give the customer a 22-month modusGate subscription to compensate for the 10 months left on their current contract,” said Perry Owen, Vice president of Sale for GWAVA.

“GWAVA is committed to the GroupWise community and is aware that there are hundreds of GroupWise customers running re-branded versions of modusGate scrambling to replace it,” said Owen. “GWAVA understands that this product competes with our own flagship product, GWAVA 4. But after careful consideration we determined that the needs of the hundreds of GroupWise organizations relying on this technology are more important. After all, if Microsoft can distribute Novell's SuSE Linux, we can certainly distribute modusGate,” said Owen.

“This announcement is the first tangible benefit of our strategic partnership with GWAVA,” said Avi Posesorsky, director of worldwide sales for Vircom, Inc.

GWAVA4 is designed to work inside of GroupWise.  It has proprietary access to the GroupWise message system and reads all email inside the GroupWise system, even if it never goes to the Internet.

Traditional AV/AS products such as modusGate almost always sit outside an email system and are designed to stop spam before it gets into a GroupWise system.

Details on how GWGuardian, MXGuardian or M+Guardian customers can switch to modusGate can be found at www.gwava.com
