And this was another nice day at BrainShare in Salt Lake city, read more about it below...
Dear all,
BrainShare Thursday, the morning after the party in the Delta Center and
elsewhere in town. Always interesting to see how many people show up for your
9:00 AM session. Here's another day review.
IO116 Novell GroupWise Anytime Anywhere - How to use PDAs
Effectively
Having a Ballroom almost filled with people at 9:00 AM, all of
them interested in your session about PDA's, is rather rewarding, especially as
this is the day after the party. The session went well, the little gimmicks
included we're well received, the questions and the feedback were good. It's
interesting to see how this mix of GroupWise Mobile Server (powered by
Intellisync/Nokia), RIM Blackberry Enterprise Server, Notify Enterprise Server,
Messaging Architects GWAnywhere, Omni Mobile Suite and some Toffa on top was
digested as part of the breakfeast (not a typo ;-): mix it with a little bit of
show and it goes down rather well.
By the way: Novell & Nokia, red N & blue N, N & N: intriguing...
More GroupWiseR soon...
After this session I had a little break, no booth today, so I had some time
to talk to a lot of people. I had a meeting with the Nordic NUI's to discuss
their fall event in Sweden, just after the Summit/GWAVACon, and also had a
meeting with some other people from the USA and Canada to discuss possible
GroupWise User Groups over here as well. More news will follow soon...
TUT322 E-mail Archiving Solutions: Is the Data that Flows through
Your E-mail System Protected?
My second session of the day, always a bit messy because of the 3,5 kilo's
rice used to demonstrated the problems of a growing GroupWise post office. Even
more messy, because this time the Ballroom we used wasn't waterproof, so we
added some water coming down from the roof and created some rice soup (really,
it leaked in there!!!). Archiving and retention are always difficult subjects to
turn to an attractive story, but the rice soup was a nice after lunch treat. The
session was very well received and some people were literally sitting at the tip
of the chair (and not because of the water dripping in ;-)
After the overview I (briefly) discussed relevant offerings of Computer
Associates (Message Manager), GWAVA (Reload & Reveal), Intellireach
(MX2020), Messaging Architects (GWarchive) and Nexic (Discovery), not in
comparing the solutions (as they're incomparable), but rather as an
introduction. I've already noticed many people have followed up on this later,
either by e-mail to me or directly to the vendors.
TUT224 Bringing Novell GroupWise and Cisco together with
GW-Unify
This was another very interesting session, introduced by Bill Pray, one of
the GroupWise Product Managers. The cool thing is the very strong combo of the
Cisco IP-telephony offerings with the GroupWise backend and client, all brought
together by GW-Unify. Very cool, resulting in a strong offering of voicemail in
GroupWise connected to your Cisco IP-telephony system, al without any changes on
the GW desktop and minor changes on the GW backend. Very interesting, I can;t
wait to get my hands on a copy of this complete solution!
Meet the experts
Today's events ended with the traditional "Meet the
Experts" night, many people showed up and the experts where almost
overrun. A good atmosphere, interesting food, all in all another successful
gathering of minds. It was got to see that especially the GroupWise area was
filled very well, probably one of the most crowded area's of this evening.
Almost done....
